Successful Long-Term Cooperation

Responsible parties in the northwest recognised early that marketing their own locations only on a limited regional level was not effective enough. They realised that a consortium of several districts and self-governing cities attracts a larger number of visitors, particularly in case of a joint internet presence. Besides, this network is an extremely good supplement to local marketing activities.

The network currently includes 25 districts and self-governing cities. The network is not limited by state borders, since the partners are from the Federal states of Bremen as well as Lower Saxony. Besides municipal partners, regional Chambers of Commerce are involved in the network as well. In the beginning they have assisted with the general concept and now they still support the updating of contents.

The cooperation is based on collectively chosen and used data structures and software tools. All participating institutions are thereby able to use the information and databases for daily application in their organisation and at the same time exchange information among each other. This creates demonstrative synergies for regional cooperation.

The company regio gmbh is operating the RegIS-Online web portal on behalf of all network partners. Moreover regio gmbh is responsible for technical developments, e.g. all databases with relevant information about enterprises, industrial sites and properties, regions and locations. At the same time regio accomplishes the coordination for one of the largest and most steady networks under public ownership in Germany.
